Phoenix Foundation

Here's some information about us

Mission statement:

Our project’s aim is to provide informational support for individuals suffering from bulimia, for their loved ones and for the public community in general, in order to facilitate the comprehension of this disorder which is often hard to spot and recognise.

Our Logo:

The phoenix has been symbolically chosen to convey the idea of resilience and the ability to break the vicious cycle to rise again from difficult times, like this mythological bird rises to life from its own ashes.

Virtual Reality:

Throughout the course of the project, we developed the Virtual Reality as an innovative therapy to help people through their recovery from bulimia: the V.R., in fact, can be considered as a self-guided support to the normal therapy that the person affected would normally follow. The V.R. is especially thought as a help in those moments when the person is alone with no other help available, and feels the urge to binge, or when negative thoughts seem unbearable.

It’s a way through which you can distract yourself, and you can either relax listening to music or guided meditation while immersed in a natural landscape, or else you can choose to engage in more creative activities using the tilt brush, so that you can draw and play with your imagination! These activities can be beneficial also considering that feelings like anxiety, stress and extreme sadness often manifest themselves in the vicious cycle of bulimia.

Despite this VR therapy being useful, since it can help the person in those moments when they are alone and no other help might be available, the presence of a specialist to fully recover is to be considered fundamental.
